How do I get a real eval of Aqua without a 2-week sales gauntlet?

Alright, I’ve hit my limit. I’ve been researching cloud security platforms for a containerized environment we’re scaling, and Aqua Security keeps coming up as a top contender. Their feature list looks incredible on paper—vulnerability scanning, runtime protection, CI/CD integration, the whole shebang. I’ve already got a comparison spreadsheet going with columns for everything from image assurance workflows to compliance reporting granularity.

But here’s my frustration: every time I try to get a genuine, hands-on feel for their platform, I’m funneled straight into a “conversation with our experts.” That means scheduling a discovery call, then a demo call, then a “technical deep dive,” and then maybe—*maybe*—getting a temporary eval environment. It’s easily a two-week process before I can even click a button myself. I don’t have that kind of time, and honestly, I learn by doing, not by watching a sales engineer run through a perfect, pre-scripted scenario.

What I’m looking for is a way to properly evaluate Aqua without the protracted sales gauntlet. I want to:
- Actually import one of our own container images and see the vulnerability breakdown, not a generic example.
- Test the policy engine with our specific CI/CD tags and see how it would fail a build.
- Get a feel for the actual UI and workflow—is it intuitive, or will my team need constant training?
- Understand the real operational overhead. Does it require a dedicated FTE to manage alerts?

Has anyone here managed to get a true, self-guided trial of Aqua Security’s platform? I’m not opposed to talking to sales eventually, but I need to validate the core functionality fits our actual use case first. Did you use a partner? Is there a specific entry point (like their open-source tools, Trivy) that gives a genuine taste of the commercial product’s logic? Or is there a secret handshake to get a sandbox environment faster?

For context, my expertise is more in marketing automation and CRM integration, but I’m the de facto tech lead for our martech stack security now. We’re running on AWS with a mix of ECS and Kubernetes, and our biggest pain points are preventing vulnerable images from reaching production and getting visibility into runtime threats without drowning in noise.

Any insights from this community would be so appreciated. I’d rather learn from your real-world experiences than another polished sales deck 🙏.
