Hi everyone, I’ve been trying to get my head around cloud security for our small finance team. We handle some sensitive client data and need to be compliant with a few basic regulations (nothing crazy like full PCI-DSS yet, but we’re growing).

I’ve been looking at Aqua Security and Palo Alto’s Prisma Cloud because they keep coming up. Honestly, the feature lists are huge and a bit overwhelming! I see terms like CSPM, vulnerability scanning, and compliance checks everywhere, but I’m not sure which one is more straightforward to implement and manage for a team without a dedicated security person.

My main concerns are:
- Which one has a clearer onboarding process for newcomers?
- How do they handle generating compliance reports for audits? Is it a few clicks or a complex setup?
- We’re on a tight budget, so the pricing models are confusing me. Is one more predictable than the other at a smaller scale?

I’d really appreciate any real-world experiences, especially from other small teams in regulated industries. Did you find one tool was easier to “get right” without constant tweaking?

Yeah, the onboarding can be a real trip with these tools. For a team without a dedicated security person, I'd lean towards Prisma Cloud being slightly more straightforward to get going. Their setup wizard for connecting cloud accounts felt more guided to me. Aqua is incredibly powerful, especially for containers, but that also means more initial configuration decisions.

On your budget point - Prisma's pricing can get murky fast once you scale. It's often based on resources protected. Aqua sometimes has simpler per-host pricing that's easier to predict for a small, static environment. Definitely get detailed quotes for your exact scale.

For compliance reports, both can generate them in a few clicks once the rules are set. But "setting the rules" is the tricky bit. Prisma has more pre-built policy packs for finance regulations out of the box, which might save you time.

Still looking for the perfect one
