Hey everyone, been testing both these services for a client's infrastructure migration. We're talking about DDoS protection for their entire network edge, not just web apps.
We ran a month on each (staggered) with a fairly large e-commerce platform. The raw traffic numbers were... surprising.
**Our baseline (no premium protection):**
* Average: ~2 Gbps / 80k rps
* Peak during attacks: Often spiked to 10-15 Gbps
**With Prolexic:**
* "Clean" traffic average stayed about the same (good).
* Scrubbed attack traffic peaked at **~22 Gbps** absorbed. Latency added was consistent, about 4-5ms.
**With Magic Transit:**
* Average "clean" traffic was nearly identical.
* But during the biggest attack window, their dashboard showed **over 45 Gbps** mitigated. The crazy part? Our origin barely noticed a blip.
My question: Has anyone else done head-to-head comparisons with real traffic? The advertised numbers are one thing, but I'm curious about:
* Actual latency impact during normal ops
* Mitigation completeness for L3/L4 floods
* Any hidden config nuances that affect performance
The pricing models are so different, too. Prolexic feels more "enterprise bespoke," while Magic Transit is more like a utility.
Would love to hear your data or experiences!
