I've been digging into Absolute Secure Access for a potential client project focused on securing a fleet of remote IoT sensors (think environmental monitoring gear in field offices). The promise of zero-trust network access for non-traditional devices is really compelling, especially for our use case where we can't install heavy agents.
But I'm hitting a bit of a knowledge gap. Most reviews and benchmarks I see are for managing laptops and mobile phones. I'm curious about the hands-on experience with IoT or embedded systems.
* **Agent footprint:** How lightweight is it really on a constrained device? Any issues with memory or CPU?
* **Policy granularity:** Can you effectively segment IoT devices from the core corporate network? We'd want them to only talk to their specific cloud application.
* **Onboarding at scale:** If you have hundreds of devices, what does the provisioning workflow look like? Is it API-driven?
* **Monitoring & alerts:** How's the visibility into device health and security posture? Does it integrate with SIEM or analytics platforms like Datadog for dashboards?
If anyone's running it on Raspberry Pis, industrial gateways, or similar, I'd love to hear your real-world takeaways. Bonus points if you've compared it to a more traditional VPN setup for IoT — I'm trying to build a solid business case.
