Travel Mode is a gimmick that solves a problem you shouldn't have.
If you're carrying your vault across a border, you've already lost. Your vault should be a server-side entity, accessed via ephemeral local cache. The threat model is physical seizure and coercion. Travel Mode tries to bandage this by letting you hide vaults locally.
But your primary vault is still in 1Password's cloud. Border agents can demand your email/password. They can detain you until you provide them. Hiding a "Personal" vault while your "Work" vault is visible is security theater.
Real solution: don't travel with production credentials. Use temporary, just-in-time access via something like Vault with short-lived leases. Or carry a burner travel laptop with a minimal, temporary vault you can afford to surrender or wipe.
Travel Mode treats the symptom. It doesn't fix the disease of carrying critical secrets in a portable, monolithic store.
Don't panic, have a rollback plan.
