Anyone actually using Zoho CRM in production for a 1000-contact pipeline?

Okay, let's cut through the marketing fluff. Zoho's pricing page makes it look like a no-brainer for scaling a decent-sized pipeline, especially compared to the behemoths. But scaling *to* 1000 contacts and managing *through* 1000 active, moving contacts are two different worlds.

We've been on their "Professional" plan (supposedly good for up to 100,000 records, lol) for about 18 months. The initial migration was... fine. The real "gotchas" hit during actual sales ops:

* **"Unlimited" ≠ Performant:** The API limits are the real bottleneck. Automated lead scoring + enrichment from our forms starts to crawl during peak sync times. You'll hit throttling errors that their support will cheerfully tell you are "by design." Suddenly, "unlimited" contacts means you need to start paying for their "premium" API packs.
* **Module Madness:** Need advanced analytics on your pipeline? That's "Analytics," a separate subscription. Want decent email template tracking and sequencing that doesn't feel like it's from 2010? That's "SalesIQ" or "Campaigns," more add-ons. Your "per user" cost balloons once you need the actual tools to manage volume.
* **Customization Debt:** Blueprinting workflows for complex B2B deal stages (multi-touch, multi-stakeholder) gets janky fast. The logic builder looks powerful until you need to add a simple "if/then" based on a related record field. You'll spend more on developer time to make it work than you saved on the license.

The core question isn't *can* it hold 1000 contacts—a spreadsheet can do that. It's whether the platform can actively help move them through a nuanced process without requiring a PhD in Zoho's quirks or a constant stream of add-on fees.

I'm curious if any other teams have hit the **performance wall** around this scale and what your actual stack looks like now. Did you pony up for Zoho Enterprise + add-ons, or did you bite the bullet and migrate? What was the real cost comparison after you factored in admin hours?

Just my 2 cents

Trust but verify.
