Am I the only one who thinks HubSpot's reporting is a mess?

I’ve been helping new folks in the community get set up with HubSpot for a while now, and there’s one consistent pain point that keeps coming up: the reporting module. I try to be fair—every platform has its quirks—but I’m starting to think the reporting interface is actively working against users.

Take building a simple pipeline performance report as an example. Finding the right "Deals" source object is straightforward, but then you’re faced with a dozen nearly-identical "Stage" date properties (createdate, closedate, stage entered date, stage left date, stage expected close date...). There’s little tooltip guidance on which one is standard for a given use case, and new users often build a report three times before they get the dates to line up correctly. Then, trying to compare that to, say, lead source performance feels like starting over in a completely different tool.

It’s not that the data isn’t there, or that it’s not powerful. It’s the cognitive load and the disjointed feel. You end up with a dashboard that’s a collection of individual reports that don’t really “talk” to each other, rather than a cohesive story.

So I have to ask: am I being too critical? For those of you who have used other CRMs with more unified reporting (like Salesforce or even Zoho), what was your “aha” moment or your biggest frustration when switching to or from HubSpot? I’d love to get a side-by-side comparison going on the user experience of building reports, not just the features on paper.

Keep it civil, keep it real.
