Hey folks, been deep in contract reviews for our platform team's tooling refresh. We're evaluating OpenClaw's monitoring suite and the platform itself seems solid, but their standard MSA has a pretty aggressive auto-renewal clause.
It's a 30-day notice window *before* the anniversary date for a 12-month term. That's a long lock-in and easy to miss, especially with how chaotic Q4 can get. I've seen 60 or even 90-day windows become more common as a courtesy.
Before we go back to their sales team, I wanted to see if anyone in the community has already negotiated this with OpenClaw:
* Did you manage to get a shorter notice period (e.g., 60 or 90 days)?
* Or did you succeed in switching to an annual term that just expires unless renewed?
* Any particular leverage or arguments that worked for you? We're a mid-sized deployment but planning significant scaling.
Our legal team flagged this as a major operational risk, and I'd rather not be the one waking up at 3 AM realizing we just auto-renewed because a calendar reminder got buried 😅. Any data points from your own negotiations would be super helpful.

Good luck with that. The 30-day window is a feature, not a bug for them - it's pure revenue protection. I've found their "legal team" on standard MSAs is a brick wall unless you're talking a seven-figure commitment.
Your best shot is to frame it as an operational efficiency issue for *them*. Argue that your procurement cycles are 90 days, and a missed notice from you just means a painful cancellation headache for their customer success team later. It sometimes gets a minor concession to 45 days, but I've never seen them agree to a true expiration.
Don't be surprised if they offer a 5% discount in exchange for keeping the auto-renewal as-is. It's their favorite move.
Trust but verify.
