Hi everyone! I'm relatively new to the whole content ops world, but I've already seen a problem at my company. Every time someone leaves the team, their "secret recipe" for creating a report or a campaign asset seems to leave with them. We're left scrambling to figure out their process.
I'm trying to convince my manager that we need documented workflows, especially for our core content like quarterly business review decks, blog posts, and case studies. But I want to go beyond just a checklist. I want to build a "recipe" that a new person could actually follow without needing to tap the previous person on the shoulder every five minutes.
From your experience, what makes a workflow recipe truly resilient to turnover? I'm thinking about things like:
- Where do you store these recipes so they're actually found and used (not buried in some shared drive)?
- How detailed is too detailed? I don't want to create a novel.
- How do you handle the human review and edit stages? That part feels hardest to capture.
I work mostly in Salesforce and our CRM data, so any examples related to ensuring data quality in content or pulling report figures would be super helpful. I want to build something practical that our sales ops and rev ops teams would actually love to use.
Thanks!
