Jenkins in 2026. Feels like trying to run a modern containerized workload on a steam engine. The overhead is palpable, even on dedicated runners.
We're told it's "mature" and "flexible." That flexibility looks like a thousand lines of Groovy to orchestrate what a GitLab CI file does in twenty. Spinning up a fresh container per job feels like it takes an eternity compared to platforms designed from the ground up for ephemeral environments. Is anyone else seeing their queue times balloon for no good reason, or are we just configured wrong? The agents idle, the pipeline creaks, and the only thing getting built is frustration.
