Hi everyone! I’ve just joined a small SaaS company (B2B, around 10k monthly website visits) and I’m helping with our martech stack. We use a mix of tools for analytics, email, and ads. My manager mentioned I should “get up to speed” on data privacy laws because we’re starting to get more EU and California sign-ups.
The problem is, I’m totally overwhelmed 😅. GDPR, CCPA, all the acronyms… and every article I find is either too legalistic or too vague. I’m not a lawyer, I’m in onboarding and adoption. I need to understand the practical stuff: what we can and can’t track, how it affects our signup forms, what we need to tell customers using our platform.
Could someone point me to a good, *practical* starting point? Like a step-by-step guide made for martech and growth people, not legal teams? I’m especially curious about how privacy laws change the way you set up tools like Mixpanel, HubSpot, or Google Ads.
Also, does the approach change a lot based on business model or traffic? We’re small now, but I’d love to learn the foundations that will scale.
