OpenClaw's community edition finally added a basic REST API. It was a major blocker for any serious integration work.
For teams considering it:
* **Team size:** Small teams or solo devs. The paid tier is still required for >3 users.
* **Stack context:** Works with their existing agents. If you're on AWS/Azure, their cloud connectors are paid features.
* **Self-hosted:** Not an option. Community edition is SaaS-only with limited retention.
* **Real cost:** The API is read-only for logs and alerts. To automate anything, you need the Pro tier. Factor that TCO before building around it.
