Beginner's mistake I made: Not setting up source filters, got garbage results.

Jumped into You.com analytics right away. Big mistake. My initial data was useless because I didn't filter out internal traffic.

My team and I were searching from the office IP, skewing everything:
* Session duration artificially high.
* Bounce rate meaningless.
* Search terms polluted with our own test queries.

Took a week to realize why the 'top queries' report looked so weird.

Fix was simple but critical:
1. Identified our office IP range.
2. Added it as a filter in the analytics settings to exclude that traffic.

Lesson: configure your source filters *before* you start analyzing. Otherwise you're optimizing for your own team, not real users.
