Just tried rolling out the new team features for a client project this week. The idea is right—shared workspace, basic user roles, content history—but the execution feels like a v1.0 that doesn't quite match how marketing and content teams actually work.
The main pain point is the approval workflow. It's essentially just a "draft" and "approved" status change. There's no way to add inline comments on specific sections, no notification when a document moves state, and certainly no custom stages for legal or compliance review. We ended up using the "comments" field for feedback, but it's clunky and disconnected from the actual text.
Has anyone managed to integrate this with an external project management tool (like ClickUp or Asana) to get real workflow control? I'm looking at a custom Zapier step, but I'm wondering if the API exposes the document status in a way that's usable.
For small teams just sharing a login, it's a step up. But for any client with a structured content calendar and multiple stakeholders, it still feels like you're managing the collaboration outside of Writesonic, which defeats the purpose.
