I've been comparing options for a few months now. Stability's official releases and pricing seem to be lagging.
The community forks and fine-tunes are moving faster. Look at SDXL Turbo and LCM implementations. The open source versions had practical, optimized workflows available almost immediately. The model training and UI improvements from third parties are more focused on what people actually use.
Stability's own platform and API costs are hard to justify when you can self-host a more current community build. Their support SLA and renewal terms don't match the pace of development happening elsewhere.
