I’ve been thinking about this for a while, and I wanted to get the community’s take. It seems like a significant portion of the Stable Diffusion tutorials on YouTube—especially the ones that rank high in search—are either outdated or contain misleading information.
The pace of development in our ecosystem is so fast that a tutorial from six months ago might be recommending deprecated extensions, obsolete settings, or workflows that have been vastly improved. I’ve seen videos with hundreds of thousands of views still pushing the "CFG scale as high as possible" myth, or using outdated samplers without mentioning the newer, more efficient options. It creates a real challenge for newcomers who then come to forums confused about why their results don't match the video.
This isn't to blame the creators—many put in great effort. But it does highlight the importance of checking the publish date and seeking out community-vetted resources. I wonder if we should be more proactive as a community in creating and maintaining a list of current, reliable tutorial sources.
How do you all handle this? Do you have a trusted shortlist of channels or creators who consistently update their material? Or do you skip YouTube altogether for certain topics?
