I've been testing Rytr for a few content generation tasks, specifically to see how it handles technical blog outlines. The "SEO Optimize" button caught my eye, so I ran some experiments.
My process was straightforward: I fed it a core topic like "incremental data loads in dbt" and let it generate keyword suggestions. The results were... off.
* It repeatedly suggested broad, unrelated terms like "data science course" or "big data analytics."
* For a piece on SQL optimization, it prioritized "learn SQL" over specific terms like "query performance" or "indexing strategies."
* The keyword integration felt forced, often breaking the natural flow of a technical explanation.
In our world, relevance and specificity are everything. This feature feels like it's working from a generic marketing keyword list, not understanding the niche context. It's optimizing for *volume* of keywords, not *value*.
Has anyone else tried using it for technical or data-focused content? Did you find a way to make the output more relevant, or is it better to just ignore that button and do your own keyword research separately? I'm curious if this is a common pain point.
