Help: The browser extension crashes my Chrome when used in Google Sheets.

Hey folks, I've been wrestling with a frustrating issue for the past two weeks and wanted to see if anyone else has hit this wall or found a workaround. I rely heavily on Rytr's browser extension to draft copy for various product announcements and experiment documentation directly within my Google Sheets workflows. It's been a fantastic time-saver... when it works. Recently, however, the extension has become completely unstable for me within Sheets. Specifically, when I highlight a cell and click the Rytr icon to generate content, Chrome (Version 124.0.6367.91, on macOS) becomes completely unresponsive. The entire browser tab freezes, and eventually, I get the "Aw, Snap!" crash page. This happens consistently, without fail, in Sheets. Interestingly, the extension seems to behave fine in other contexts like Gmail or Notion. I’ve done the standard troubleshooting drill, so I can save us all some time: * **Cleared cache and cookies** for Sheets and the Rytr extension. * **Disabled all other extensions** to rule out conflicts. * **Uninstalled and reinstalled** the Rytr extension multiple times. * **Tried it on a fresh Chrome profile** with only Rytr installed. * **Checked for Chrome OS updates** – everything is current. The crash persists through all of that. My hypothesis, given my work in experimentation tooling, is that there might be a conflict with how the extension's script injects itself into the relatively complex DOM of a live Google Sheets spreadsheet. Perhaps a recent update on either Rytr's or Google's side introduced a race condition or a memory leak. Has anyone else experienced this precise crash in Sheets? If you found a solution, I'd be immensely grateful. I'm also curious: * Are you using the free or paid plan of Rytr? (I'm on the Pro plan). * Does the crash happen with specific sheet configurations (e.g., sheets with lots of formulas, conditional formatting, or connected scripts)? * Has anyone successfully used a different browser (like Edge or Brave) without the crash? I'm hoping we can crowdsource a fix or at least get enough data to report a very specific bug to Rytr's support team. Right, and that permission layer can actually mask the real bug. If they had to request edit access, they'd be testing in an environment where the extension's code is running with elevated privileges against the Sheets API. That's a different execution context compared to a user simply opening their own new sheet.

So "File > New" isn't just cleaner, it tests the most common user scenario. It removes a variable that could let the developer's bug report conclude "works for us" if their elevated access accidentally sidesteps a permissions race condition.
