Just spent the afternoon putting both Poe and Perplexity through their paces for a specific DevOps research task: "current best practices for secret scanning in GitHub Actions."

Here's the raw take. Perplexity excels at surfacing recent articles, official docs, and blog posts. It's like a supercharged search engine with summaries. Great for breadth.

Poe, using a mix of Claude and GPT-4, felt more like a collaborative partner. I could ask follow-ups like "compare that approach to using GitGuardian's action" and it would synthesize the earlier info into a concise pro/con list. Less about sources, more about direct, actionable answers.

For pure, fast research, Perplexity wins. But for understanding and applying that research to a specific pipeline, Poe's chat-depth was more useful. The cost model difference is huge though 😅
