That's a good distinction about the backoff loop pattern in the logs. I've been staring at my own logs trying to diagnose a similar hang, and seeing calls with increasing delays is exactly what I'm noticing. It's easy to mistake that for normal retry behavior if you aren't looking for the pattern.
What's the best way to isolate which specific config source is feeding the wrong timeout value once you've identified the loop? Is checking the loaded environment variables for the process enough, or could it still be a file loaded later in the chain?
