I've been using PlayHT for a few hobby projects, and I'm a bit confused. I keep seeing "studio quality" everywhere, especially on their Ultra and Creative Voice tiers.
But when I compare the output to, say, a well-mic'd human in a simple podcast, I can still tell it's AI. The pacing feels off sometimes, or there's a slight buzz. For my use casesβYouTube explainers and app narrationβthe "Standard" quality is honestly fine and way cheaper.
Is "studio quality" just a marketing term for "the best we currently have," or am I missing something? Shouldn't true studio quality be indistinguishable from a professional voice actor in a booth? 🤔
As a beginner, I'd love to hear from others who've used these voices for final products. Did clients or listeners notice a difference?
