Fireflies.ai is better if your syncs are pure discussion with action items. Its strength is in post-meeting workflow.
* Automated task/sentiment/decision detection works well for standard formats.
* Integration with project management tools (Asana, Trello, Jira) is more direct.
* The "Conversation Intelligence" metrics are useful for managers.
Otter.ai is superior for accuracy and raw transcription, especially with technical jargon or multiple speakers.
* Handles overlapping dialogue and accents better in our tests.
* The live transcript during the meeting is more reliable for real-time captioning.
* The "Otter Assistant" can join and record Zoom/Teams calls directly, which is more stable than Fireflies' bot sometimes.
Key decision points:
* **If your goal is a searchable, accurate record of what was said** -> Otter.
* **If your goal is to automatically generate summaries and action items** -> Fireflies.
For our DevOps stand-ups, we use Otter. For our product marketing syncs, they prefer Fireflies.
