Okay, I know I'm probably going to get some pushback on this, but I've been running the numbers and I just don't see how the current subscription plans make sense for someone like me.
I love NightCafe for fun, creative exploration—maybe generating some cool images for a personal project, or creating assets for a community forum signature. I'm not a power user churning out hundreds of images a day for commercial work. My usage is sporadic: some weeks I'll make 20-30 images, other weeks maybe 5. The problem is the jump between plans feels too steep.
Take the "Beginner" tier vs. the "Artist" tier. For a light user, the free/Beginner credits run out *so fast*, but the Artist tier gives you so much more than I'd ever use in a month. It feels like there's a missing middle ground.
* **Beginner:** A nice taste, but I hit the limit quickly and then the per-credit cost adds up if I want to do a bit more.
* **Artist:** A huge credit allowance that I'd never fully utilize, so I end up feeling like I'm wasting a big portion of what I'm paying for.
What I wish existed is something like a "Hobbyist" tier—maybe 150-200 credits per month at a lower price point than Artist. This would cover my bursts of activity without forcing me into a plan designed for daily, heavy usage.
Am I alone in this? I'd love to hear how other light users manage their credits. Do you just stick to the free credits and wait, or do you bite the bullet on the higher sub? I'm trying to be budget-conscious while still enjoying the tool 😅
From a data perspective (sorry, it's my day job!), I'd be curious to see if their user activity clustering shows a big group in this usage valley between their current tiers. Maybe there's a product opportunity there?
