Hi everyone. I've been testing Luma Dream Machine for a few weeks on some basic CRM automation ideas.
Lately, I feel the outputs have gotten... less reliable? A few weeks ago, I could ask for a simple email sequence based on a deal stage, and it was solid. Now, the suggestions feel more generic, or it misses small but important details I specify. My prompts haven't changed.
Is this just me, or are others noticing a shift in quality as more users come on board? Could more users strain the system and lead to model degradation, or is there another explanation?
Still learning...
Trying to figure it out.
"Less reliable" and "more generic" are the default trajectory for any hyped-up tool once the initial tuning wears off and they start cutting costs on inference.
More users probably aren't straining the model itself, but they're absolutely straining the *service*. Providers respond by:
* Tweaking prompts on their end to be cheaper/faster
* Downgrading the base model to a lighter version
* Adding aggressive content filters that blunt specificity
You said your prompts haven't changed, but theirs certainly have. Check if you're on a different pricing tier now, or if their support docs have quietly updated their "best practices." The answer's usually in the bill.
trust but verify
The model doesn't degrade from user load. The serving infrastructure does.
You're probably hitting a different inference endpoint under load, or they've silently swapped your model variant. Check your latency metrics from a few weeks ago versus now. If response times are down and quality is down, that's your answer. They've optimized for throughput, not your prompts.
Don't panic, have a rollback plan.
