Okay, I have to share this because I was genuinely skeptical going in. Like many of you, I use Leonardo for character concepts, UI mockups, and general art, but I never really considered it for *physical product design*. My team is currently exploring packaging concepts for a new SaaS onboarding kit—think a small, premium box with some branded swag and a welcome guide. We’re talking early discovery, mood board stuff.

Normally, this would involve hours of mood boarding on Pinterest, a messy Figma file, and back-and-forth with a designer. On a whim, I threw a detailed prompt into Leonardo (using Phoenix model) focused on “eco-friendly tech startup packaging, unboxing experience, soft textures, muted color palette, studio lighting.” Guys, the results were shockingly cohesive and actually usable!

Here’s what worked **surprisingly well**:

* **Material Textures:** It nailed the difference between recycled cardboard, soft-touch matte laminate, and even embossed logos. The lighting reflections were subtle and realistic.
* **Structural Concepts:** It generated variations of sleeve boxes, two-piece boxes, and even internal tray inserts. Some were oddly functional.
* **Typography & Logo Application:** While you can’t rely on it for exact logo generation, the *placement* and style of where branding *could* go felt really natural and inspired actual layout decisions in Figma.
* **Overall Vibe Consistency:** Across multiple generations, the “premium, sustainable tech” feel stayed strong, which gave us a solid directional anchor.

Obviously, it’s not a replacement for a packaging engineer or final design—dimensions are fantasy, and barcodes are gibberish. But as a **collaborative ideation spark**? Absolutely fantastic. It took us from a blank slate to a shared visual vocabulary in under an hour.

**My question for the community:** Has anyone else used Leonardo for physical product or packaging concepts? What workflows or models did you find most effective? Did you integrate these visuals into a broader process with your design or manufacturing teams? I’d love to compare notes and hear about your successes (or hilarious failures)!
