Tried to get HuggingChat to spot a trend in a simple quarterly sales CSV. The prompt was straightforward: "Given this data, what is the likely trend for the next two quarters, and what's your reasoning?"
It produced a confident narrative about "steady growth" and "increasing adoption," complete with percentages. The problem? The last three quarters in the sheet were *declining*. Not subtly. A human would see a downturn. The model hallucinated a positive trend opposite to the data, dressing it up in plausible-sounding analysis.
So much for data extrapolation. It's a language model doing a statistical impression, not a statistical tool. Useful for drafting a report *after* you've done the real analysis yourself, maybe.
