So HeyGen finally added "long-form video" support. The marketing copy is predictably breathless about "unlocking new creative possibilities" or whatever. I'll translate: they want you to burn more credits per project.
Before anyone gets excited about making a 10-minute explainer, we need the actual numbers. Their pricing has always been a bit of a black box based on credits. So:
* What's the new credit multiplier for video length? Is it linear (1 minute = X credits) or does it get cheaper per second after a certain point?
* What's the real output quality at 5 or 10 minutes? Does the consistency degrade, requiring more re-runs and therefore more credits?
* Most importantly, what's the break-even point vs. just stitching together a bunch of their old 1-minute clips? If the "long-form" feature has a hefty premium, you might be better off with the old workflow.
I checked their updated pricing page. It's still mostly about monthly credit packs. Has anyone run a real cost analysis on a longer project yet? I'm especially skeptical of any "unlimited" plans they might be rolling out—those are almost always a trap for moderate to high usage.
Give me your data points. How many credits did a 3-minute video actually consume? What was the render time compared to short clips? Without those figures, this "feature" is just a potential budget sinkhole.
