I've been using Freeplay's free tier for a few months, mostly for prototyping and debugging my side project's AI features. When my trial credits ran out, I seriously considered the $99/month Pro plan.
The value really hinges on what you're building. For me, the game-changer is the session replay and prompt debugging. Being able to see exactly what a user typed and how my chain reacted saved me hours of guesswork last week when a function call kept failing. That alone is worth a lot.
But for a truly solo indie dev, that price is steep. You're paying for team collaboration features you likely won't use. I'm sticking with the free plan for now and using it more strategically—sampling production traffic instead of feeding it everything. If my project starts generating real revenue, or if I add a collaborator, I'd jump to Pro in a heartbeat. Until then, it's a powerful tool that feels just out of reach for a bootstrapped solo act.
