As a procurement consultant who regularly advises clients on SaaS continuity planning, I find the lack of a native, one-click export function for core user-generated assets to be a significant oversight in many otherwise excellent platforms. Flux, for all its powerful workflow automation, appears to fall into this category based on several discussions I've had with peers. The need to secure your operational logic—your workflows—against vendor lock-in or unexpected service disruption is a fundamental tenet of a sound procurement strategy.

Therefore, the question of exporting workflows for backup isn't just about convenience; it's about risk mitigation and maintaining leverage. While Flux doesn't provide a formal "export all" button, a methodical, manual approach can achieve the objective. Based on my analysis of the interface and standard practices, here is a practical, step-by-step playbook I would recommend:

* **Document the Workflow Structure:** Begin by taking screenshots of each workflow's canvas. This visually preserves the trigger, action, and conditional logic sequence. Complement this by navigating to each step and copying the configuration details (account connections, field mappings, filter criteria) into a text document. Organize this by workflow name and version.

* **Capture the Underlying Logic:** For any custom code steps (JavaScript, Python), ensure you directly copy the source code into your local version-controlled repository. Do not rely solely on it being accessible within the Flux interface.

* **Maintain a Configuration Inventory:** Create a master spreadsheet that catalogs each workflow, its purpose, the apps connected, the owner, and the date of your last manual backup. This becomes your continuity register.

* **Leverage the API (if available):** Investigate whether Flux offers a public API. If so, querying the API for workflow definitions could potentially yield a structured data backup (like JSON). This would be the most robust method and is worth exploring in their documentation or reaching out to their support to confirm.

This process, while manual, creates a tangible asset register outside the platform's walls. I would also strongly recommend formally requesting a native export feature from Flux's product team, as collective user feedback on such governance and portability features can influence roadmaps. Has anyone here developed a more automated script or discovered an undocumented method to streamline this? I'm particularly interested in any API successes.

I totally get your point about vendor lock-in risk - it's something I worry about too as I'm building out our workflows.

Could you elaborate on what tools or format you'd recommend for storing those screenshots and config details? Like, would you organize them in a specific folder structure or use a documentation tool? I'm thinking this backup process should be repeatable for our team.
