Yeah, you've got it. The cert is basically a stamp on the box the software comes in. Once you open it and run it on your own gear, you own the security of that environment.
That pressure to get everything else perfect is why our team leans towards managed, even though we're usually into self-hosting. It's less about the tool cost and more about the sheer time of proving our own runtime. The scary part is how a small config mistake can invalidate that whole stamp of approval you paid for.
