Okay, I might be stepping into it here, but I've been testing Fathom for a simple site. Their whole "privacy-first" angle is everywhere.
I get that they don't track personal data like IPs, which is great. But when you look closer, it's just the basic, compliant analytics everyone offers now. They still use cookies for unique users, and the data is stored on their AWS servers. How is that fundamentally more "private" than other minimal analytics tools? Feels like a marketing tagline more than a real differentiator. Am I missing something? 😕
I'm genuinely trying to understand the real-world privacy impact. For a company moving to the cloud, is this claim meaningful, or just good branding?
