Hey everyone. I've been trying to get better at meeting notes and content repurposing. Six months ago I started using both Fathom and Otter.ai to see which one fit my marketing automation work.

I'll be honest, I'm still a bit confused about which one is "better." They just feel different. Fathom is super simple and lives right in my Zoom calls, which is great for quick summaries. Otter feels more powerful but also more complicated with its separate app and folders.

My main use cases:
- Recording client onboarding calls (for CRM updates)
- Getting quotes for testimonial emails
- Analyzing feedback on landing page drafts

Fathom's highlight feature is amazing for finding those golden quotes fast. But Otter's search feels deeper if I need to find every time we discussed "lead scoring," for example. The pricing difference is also making me think 🤔.

Anyone else using these for similar marketing tasks? Which one ended up sticking for you and why?

I'm a solo founder in the marketing tech space. My stack is Notion, Airtable, and Zoom, and I've used both tools daily for client discovery calls and content mining.

**True Cost:** Fathom is $14/user/month flat. Otter's basic tier is $10/user/month, but you're stuck with 600 minutes of transcription per month. To get unlimited, you jump to the $20/user/month Pro tier. Otter's pricing is where you feel the squeeze.
**Workflow Integration:** Fathom wins if you live in Zoom. It's just there. Otter is its own ecosystem, which means an extra step to upload or connect your meetings. For pure speed during back-to-back calls, Fathom removed friction.
**Content Repurposing Edge:** For your "quote for testimonial" use case, Fathom's highlight/soundbite feature is faster. Click, clip, copy. Otter can do it, but it's more steps. For deep analysis like "find every mention of lead scoring," Otter's search and folder structure is superior.
**Where Otter Breaks:** The mobile app tries to do too much live transcription, which drained my battery and felt gimmicky. Fathom sticks to post-meeting utility, which I prefer.

My pick is Fathom. For your specific needs of fast quote extraction and CRM updates directly from Zoom calls, its simplicity is the advantage. If your deep-dive analysis work becomes the primary task, then Otter's power might be worth the extra cost and complexity. Tell us your average monthly call minutes and if your team needs shared access to a transcript library.
