I've been using Elicit for a few weeks now to organize literature reviews, and I've run into a persistent issue that's starting to impact my workflow. I'm carefully adding annotations and notes to papers, but when I refresh the browser page or come back to the workspace later, a significant portion of my annotations are gone. It seems random—some stay, but many just vanish.
I'm trying to diagnose if this is a local issue or something others have seen. Here's my setup and what I've tried:
* **Browser:** Chrome, latest version
* **Login:** Persistent session via Google account
* **Action:** I add annotations using the highlight/note function directly on the paper PDF within Elicit.
* **What happens:** After a page refresh (F5 or Cmd+R), or upon returning after a few hours, annotations on some papers are missing. The papers themselves are still in the workspace.
I've attempted a few troubleshooting steps:
* Cleared browser cache and cookies for the site.
* Tried using an incognito window.
* Ensured I'm clicking the "save" or checkmark icon after typing a note.
Has anyone else experienced this data persistence problem? I rely on those annotations for my synthesis, so losing them is a real problem. If you've found a workaround or can confirm it's a known bug, I'd appreciate hearing about it. I'm also curious if there's a specific way the API or backend syncs this data that might explain the behavior.
