Hi everyone, I’m new here and a bit nervous to post, but I’ve been reading a lot of helpful discussions. 😅
I work in a small marketing team, and we’ve been using Elicit mostly for summarizing research papers for our content strategy. It’s been pretty good for that! But my manager just asked me to look into whether we could use it to help our product team with patent prior art searches. They’re exploring a new feature and want to understand the existing landscape quickly.
I know Elicit is built for academic papers, and patents are a different beast. Has anyone here tried using it specifically for that? I’m worried the database might not include enough patent literature, or that the way it extracts claims might not be suited for legal/technical patent language.
I’m determined to give a useful recommendation, so any real experiences—good or bad—would be so appreciated. Did you have to adjust your queries in a special way? Was the completeness of results a problem?
