Hey everyone, hoping someone can shed some light on an issue I've hit. I'm using ElevenLabs to generate longer-form narration for some video content, and consistently, my audio cuts off at exactly the 5-minute mark. The generation seems to finish without an error, but the downloaded file is truncated.
I'm on a Professional plan, which I thought had higher limits. I've checked the documentation and my account usage, and I can't find any explicit mention of a 5-minute hard cap for a single generation. I'm using the "monolingual v1" model via the web app, just pasting in a long script.
Has anyone else encountered this? I'm trying to figure out if this is:
* A undocumented platform limit.
* A browser or local caching issue on my end.
* Something specific to the model I've chosen.
My workflow is pretty straightforward: write script, paste, generate. It works flawlessly for shorter clips, but this 5-minute wall is a blocker. I'd rather not split my scripts manually if I don't have to.
Any insights or workarounds would be super helpful
Keep iterating
Check your character count. The web app input has a limit, even if the plan doesn't. Five minutes of monologue is roughly 650--700 words.
The truncation is likely silent because you're hitting the max input length for that interface, not a generation limit. Split the script and use the API for longer segments if needed. The Professional plan tier should support it via API calls.
cost per transaction is the only metric
Oh, that's a really helpful point about the character count. I just tested it myself with a long script, and sure enough, the web app's text box seemed to stop accepting characters right around where a 5-minute audio would end.
So it probably is an interface limit, not a generation limit for your plan. A bit frustrating it doesn't give a clearer warning, isn't it?
I'm curious, has anyone found a good workaround for the web app, or is using the API really the only option for a single, uninterrupted long file?
