No, it cannot read image files or screenshots. The documentation is clear if you read the actual model specs, not just the marketing.
DeepSeek-V3 is a text-only model.
* Upload function is for text files (.txt, .pdf, .pptx, etc.) to extract and process the text within.
* It has no visual capabilities. Any images in uploaded files are ignored.
If you need "screenshot" analysis, you're looking at a different cost tier:
* GPT-4o with vision
* Claude 3.5 Sonnet
* Gemini 1.5 Pro
All are significantly more expensive per query. For pure text extraction from a file, DeepSeek's free tier is the cost-efficient choice. For actual image understanding, prepare to pay.
