Hey folks, been putting DALL-E 3 through its paces for a few weeks now, mostly loving the results for product mock-ups and social media graphics. But I’ve hit a consistent snag that’s bugging me.

When I ask for images with large, solid color backgrounds—think a simple portrait against a solid pastel wall, or a product on a clean white backdrop—the generated images often have these faint, weird artifacts. They look like subtle texture noise, faint banding, or sometimes a very slight gradient where it should be perfectly flat. It’s not super obvious at first glance, but it’s there when you zoom in or if you need a truly clean, uniform background for professional use.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far to mitigate it:
* Being hyper-specific in the prompt: “solid [color] background, completely uniform, no texture, no patterns, clean backdrop.”
* Using “photorealistic” or “studio photography” style modifiers.
* Generating at the highest quality setting available in ChatGPT Plus.

The issue persists. It feels like the model might be *trying* to add “realism” by avoiding perfect digital flats, but for many design use cases, that’s exactly what we need.

Has anyone else run into this? I’m curious about:
* Is this a known limitation of the model?
* Are there any prompt engineering tricks that have worked for you to get truly clean backgrounds?
* Do other image gen tools handle this specific scenario better, or is it a common challenge?

Trying to figure out if this is just part of the workflow to clean up in post-production, or if there’s a way to get closer to perfection straight out of the generator.
