Hi everyone. Our lab is looking to adopt a dedicated tool for citation analysis, and we've narrowed it down to Consensus and Scite. We're a group of about 20, mostly grad students and postdocs across a few related biology subfields.
The core need is reliable "smart citation" functionality—seeing whether a citation supports or contradicts a claim is huge for our literature reviews. We also need something that scales well for a team, without becoming a hassle to manage or budget for.
I've done the individual trials for both, but I'm keen to hear from any other labs or research groups using either tool at a similar scale. How's the onboarding for new members? Any quirks in the workflow when multiple people are tagging and saving papers? Most importantly, which one has proven more accurate and thorough in your actual daily use for finding supporting/contrasting evidence?
We're leaning towards Consensus for its broader discovery features, but Scite's deep focus on citation contexts is compelling. Real-world pitfalls or advantages from a lab manager's perspective would be incredibly helpful.
