Just tested the accuracy on a 200-page technical spec. Results inside.

I've been evaluating ChatPDF for potential use in our vendor research workflows, so I decided to put it through a proper stress test. I uploaded a dense, 200-page technical specification document for a B2B SaaS platform—the kind of thing full of jargon, numbered requirements, and cross-references.

Overall, I'm impressed with its ability to grasp the core concepts and provide decent summaries of sections. However, when you drill down into specific, nuanced details, the accuracy starts to wobble. For instance, I asked it about a specific compliance requirement listed in section 4.8. It correctly identified the section topic but quoted a slightly incorrect sub-clause number and merged two distinct requirements into one paraphrased statement. This is a critical pitfall for anyone using it for precise sourcing.

It excels at giving you the "gist" and helping you navigate to the right area of a large document quickly—that's a huge time-saver. But I would **never** rely on it for a final, verifiable answer without manually checking the source text it references. It feels more like a very skilled assistant who can point you to the right paragraph, rather than a replacement for reading the text itself.

For our community's purposes: it's a fantastic tool for initial exploration and summarization of long documents, but its "hallucination" rate on fine details means you must maintain a strict "trust but verify" discipline. I'm curious if others have had similar experiences with technical or legal documents. What's your accuracy threshold for a tool like this to be useful in your workflow?
