Here's my main gripe: I'm usually looking for something specific—a clause, a metric, a specific section's context. Instead of letting me "ask once and get a full, structured answer," I find myself playing 20 questions. The back-and-forth, the follow-ups, the "can you be more specific?" from the bot... it adds up.
For example, last week I uploaded a 50-page market research PDF. I just wanted a simple table comparing the top 5 vendors mentioned, their key features, and pricing models. What should have been a 30-second task became:
* First ask: "List the vendors." Got a bullet list.
* Second ask: "For each, list key features." Got another list, but formatted separately.
* Third ask: "Now combine into a table with pricing." It started to get confused and referenced a different section.
* Fourth ask: "Only use data from section 4." It finally gave me something usable, but by then I'd wasted 5 minutes typing prompts.
Am I using it wrong? I see people raving about it, but for me, it's faster 80% of the time to just Ctrl+F and skim the damn PDF myself. The chat paradigm introduces so much friction for actual "work" tasks.
I've started using it more as a "tutor" for a complex document I need to *learn*, rather than a tool to *extract* from a document I need to *use*. The value is there, but it's not the productivity slam-dunk I hoped for.
