Everyone’s celebrating how ChatGPT writes poetry or code. I used it for something actually useful: SLA reports.
Our quarterly service review used to take a team a week to draft—pulling data from three systems, justifying anomalies, writing narratives. Got it down to a day. The trick? It’s a structured summarization task, not creative writing. Feed it cleaned metrics, outage timestamps, and known issues. It drafts the exec summary and incident sections passably. Still requires a human to verify every number and add context it misses, but it eliminates the blank-page problem.
Of course, if your monitoring data is garbage, this just automates producing polished garbage faster. Garbage in, gospel out.
