Just deployed our first app using Cartesia for voice synthesis. We were on the “Pay as you go” plan.
Our projection was around $200 for the month based on estimated characters. The invoice came in at over $400. The usage dashboard showed we processed nearly double the characters we thought.
Has anyone else run into this? The per-character cost is clear, but I think our staging environments were also hitting the API during testing. There’s no detailed breakdown by environment or API key in the dashboard, which makes it hard to track.
What’s the best practice here? Should we be creating separate projects for staging vs. production to isolate costs?
