Does anyone actually use the 'Team Analytics' dashboard? Seems unused.

Alright, let’s be real for a minute. I’ve been poking around the team plans of a few analytics and product-led growth tools lately (think Amplitude, Mixpanel, Heap, maybe even some newer entrants like June or PostHog). And I keep seeing this pattern: there’s always a **“Team Analytics”** or **“Team Workspace”** dashboard prominently featured in the sales deck and the feature comparison table for the Business/Enterprise tiers.

But when I actually get access or talk to other teams using these tools, nobody seems to know what to do with it. It feels like a feature built for a problem that doesn’t exist, or at least isn't articulated well.

So my question is: **Does anyone actually use this thing meaningfully?**

Here’s what I usually see in these dashboards:
* A summary of "team activity" (logins, queries run, reports viewed)
* Maybe some data on "most active users" within the tool itself
* A list of "saved charts" or "dashboards created" by team members
* Sometimes, "collaboration" metrics like @mentions or shared links

My gut feeling is that this is a **checklist feature** born from a "what else can we add to justify the seat price?" mentality, not from actual user pain points. The value proposition feels fuzzy.

I'm trying to think of a scenario where I, as a Product Analytics lead, would:
1. Regularly check this dashboard.
2. Use it to make a decision or change a process.
3. Get a tangible ROI from the insights there.

I’m coming up empty. The actionable insights for *building a better product* are in the *product event data*, not in the *tool usage data*.

**What’s your experience?**
* Have you found a killer use case for the Team Analytics dashboard?
* Do you have a manager or stakeholder who actually looks at it?
* If you could repurpose the engineering effort spent on that feature, what would you build instead for a team tier?
* Is this just a quiet graveyard of vanity metrics, or am I missing its hidden superpower?

I’m genuinely curious if there’s a pattern here or if some teams have cracked the code on making this useful. Maybe for tracking adoption of the tool itself internally? But even then, there are better ways.

It's a shelfware feature in 90% of deployments. You've nailed the checklist dynamic.

The only place I've seen it used effectively is during a forced data platform consolidation, where management needed hard numbers on which teams were still querying the legacy system versus the new expensive one. It became an adoption enforcement dashboard.

Otherwise, it's vanity metrics about the tool itself, not your business. If the primary value prop is monitoring your own team's tool usage, you've got bigger problems.

Show me the query.
