Okay, so I'm in the middle of yet another CRM evaluation cycle (shocker, I know 😅), and this time I'm deep in the weeds on using first-party data for ad targeting.
We're currently on Salesforce Sales Cloud. I've been testing The Trade Desk's UID2 for cookie-less stuff, but I keep hitting the same conceptual wall.
**Has anyone actually built a pipeline to push Salesforce audience segments directly into The Trade Desk?**
I'm not talking about a vague "yes, it's possible" answer. I mean the actual, practical steps. My team's main goal is to take lists of our known contacts (segmented by things like customer tier, product interest, or lifecycle stage) and use them for targeted display campaigns on TTD.
The obvious hurdles I'm thinking through:
* **Data Formatting:** Salesforce exports (via Reports or Data Loader) vs. what TTD's API or UI expects for audience uploads. Is it just a matter of getting email/phone hash matches?
* **Automation Layer:** Would this require a middleware like Zapier/Make, or a custom script on a scheduler? Or is the vision to use a CDP like Segment as the bridge?
* **Sync Frequency:** How are you handling refreshes? Nightly batches? Real-time feels like overkill for most of our use cases.
I've seen mentions of using AWS or Google Cloud as an intermediary storage step, but that seems heavy. HubSpot has more native ad platform connectors, but we're not on that stack right now.
Really curious if anyone has a working setup and what the maintenance overhead is like. Bonus points if you've compared the match rates to just using a platform's native pixel-based audience building.
Still looking for the perfect one
