Hi everyone. I’m relatively new to the IAM space on the operational side, coming from a project management background where I’ve used Jira and Asana for tracking. I’ve been tasked with researching modern workforce IAM solutions for a mid-sized tech company, and Glide Identity has come up a few times.

I can read the feature lists on their site, but I’m having a hard time finding detailed, real-world comparisons. In my previous work, comparing Jira versus Linear or Asana versus Monday.com was always about the subtle, day-to-day operational differences that aren’t in the sales brochures.

Could anyone share their concrete experience with Glide Identity for core workforce IAM? I’m particularly curious about how it stacks up against more established players in practical terms. For example:
- How does the user lifecycle provisioning/de-provisioning workflow actually feel to configure and run compared to something like Okta?
- Is the SSO and federation setup notably simpler or more complex for a team that’s moderately skilled?
- How granular and flexible are the access policies for internal applications?
- Any observations on the admin experience or daily management overhead?

I’m trying to understand if it’s truly a simpler, modern alternative or if it comes with significant trade-offs in maturity or depth. Any insights on what it does exceptionally well or where it might be lacking would be incredibly helpful.

Thanks!

We're about 6 months into using Glide after switching from a basic SSO setup. The lifecycle workflows were actually what sold us - you can drag and connect triggers and actions for onboarding/offboarding, which felt more like a project management flow you're used to. Much more visual than Okta's workflows, honestly.

But that simplicity has a trade-off. For our internal app policies, we found it less granular than expected. Setting up rules for, say, engineering vs. marketing access to specific tools required more workarounds.

The admin side is pretty clean for daily stuff like resetting MFA or checking logs. Their support team is responsive, which helps a lot when you hit those edge cases.

Have you looked at how it would connect to your existing HR system? That's where we had the most setup friction.
