If you're coming from something like Salesforce where identity is just "those user records that log in," Entra can feel like overkill. Everyone jumps to the fancy conditional access and identity protection, but you don't need that noise yet.
Start here: it's just a user directory. Your cloud users are already in it. Go to the Entra admin center and look at Users. That's your starting list. Your first real task is setting up SSO for your cloud apps—that's where you'll see the point of it. Skip the "identity governance" and "workload identities" tabs for now; that's where they try to upsell you on the fancy licenses. Get SSO working for one app, then you'll know what the fuss is about. It's rarely one-click, despite what the sales sheet says.
