Hi everyone, I've been lurking for a while but this is my first post. I was tasked with finding a secure access solution for our ~500 person company (mix of office and remote). We landed on Absolute Secure Access after a pretty rushed evaluation period (I know, not ideal). We just finished the rollout last week.
I have to say, the actual deployment was smoother than I feared. The agent installed quietly on most machines, and the initial connection for users was pretty straightforward—just clicking a tile in the browser. No major revolt from the team, which is a win.
But, we definitely hit some snags. A handful of users on older MacBooks couldn't connect at all; support said it was a TPM issue we're still sorting. Also, the "always-on" feature sounded great in theory, but we had to turn it off for our dev team because it was interfering with some of their local docker setups. They were not happy. Performance is generally fine, though some people in marketing complain that accessing large creative files from the network drive over the VPN is noticeably slower.
My main question for others who've done a rollout of this scale: did you run into similar issues? More importantly, are there any specific settings or workarounds you found for the "always-on" feature that might let us keep it on without breaking development workflows? I'm also curious about long-term reliability—any surprise outages or cost spikes after the first few months? 😅
We're committed for a year, so I'm trying to smooth out the rough edges and really understand what we've gotten into.
