How do I calculate ROI for a tool like Arize? What metrics matter?

Everyone's rushing to justify their ML stack spend. Let's assume you're wrong about needing Arize in the first place.

ROI? Start with the exit cost. What's the engineering time to migrate your monitoring configs and retrain your team when you switch vendors? Or when their pricing tiers shift? That's your first negative metric.

Then, what are you actually monitoring? If you can't point to a specific, costly production incident that this tool would have caught—and your current logs wouldn't—your ROI is theoretical. Track the cost of those past incidents instead. The delta is your potential upside, if the tool works as promised.

Don't forget the cost of now being locked into their taxonomy and data pipeline. How much is your audit trail worth when it lives inside their SaaS?
